My son is only 19 months but he has a stool also I put the toothpaste on (beginners training paste) we have a stand up mirror on bathroom door we watch ourselves dance and i brush his teeth for him then i let him have the brush and i leave the water run the whole time once he gets his brush he puts it in his mouth and sucks all the water off his brush he has tried a few times to brush himself but for now it works, maybe you can try a reward system of some sort like moms gonna brush for blah blah seconds then 'he/she' brushes for blah blah seconds and she gets a sticker or something or she gets to go help you make a batch of cookies (which she has to brush her teeth after cuz she has to rinse the sugar bugs away) Maybe the story of rinsing sugar bugs away will be enough all up to your child you know her/him best :)

My little guy was the same way, but loves to do everything I do. Let your little one watch you brush your teeth.

Maybe trying to let her "do it" a couple time and watch you brush yours. My son use to HATE brushing his teeth. He will be 2 next month and BEGS me to get his pooh(pooh toothbrush) out and i let him "brush" his while i brush mine. He gets his stool and stands nxt to me at the sink. When im done i tell him to let mommy help and he loves it. Also, my sons dentist told me that its recommended for toddlers to use the kid toothpaste with flouride but no more than a dab..
