My daughter back talks at the age of 1 and half

My daughter is one and a half and my husband and I tell her to pick up her toys or books that she throws on the ground or drags out to the living room and she screams at us in her baby talk or will start crying and act like we're twisting her arm when we make her clean her room or pick up her books. I have an older son whos 3 and will do her chores or clean up her messes, but he will do it all and we feel like it shouldn't be his job to clean up after his sister, who can do it. But the screaming at me or my husband has been going on since she was one. We've tried time out, ignoring her, telling her no, but nothing works. She thinks shes the princess of the house and we the bad guys it seems. Anyone got any advice or ideals on how we can stop this?

There's a wonderful book on discipline called _How Much is Enough_ by Jean Illsley Clark. I'd recommend getting your hands on a copy. It talks about what's realistic to expect at various age levels, and also how to help kids be as responsible and respectful as they are capable of at any particular age. My mom recommended it to me, and it's really given my husband and I some good insights with our almost 2-year-old.
