Dawn dish soap works pretty well too, it helps break up the pil. My mom told me a story of someone doing this when they were little.

I also read that you can put cornstarch in the hair and pat it well and rub it in with a towel. Then shampoo with 1 tsp. baking soda added to regular baby shampoo. Good luck! The only thing I tried was witch hazel and a clarifying shampoo with the hottest water I could stand. I don't think that's good for a young child though. Good luck!

Shoot--depends on how much. Long ago my eldest did the same thing --we discovered that when there is a lice epidemic in the school that this is a great way to kill anything--put vasoline in your hair and cover it in a bag over night , but not in extreme excess --I loved how it conditioned my own hair but my daughter was never one for moderation and she caked her head in Vasoline --it was greasy for the longest time. You can try to break it up with vinagar, or see what baking soda does. I don't want to suggest anything too harsh. Good luck.
