Don't feel guilty! As a foster parent I have dealt with children who are 5, 6, 7 years old having full blown toddler tantrums. It is not thier fault that no one cared enough to help them learn how to deal with dissapointment and anger at the appropiate age. You do care enough about your daughter so be confident that you are doing it for her good! And believe me, dealing with a tantrum from a 2 year old is nowhere near as stressful and exhausting as dealing with one from an older and bigger kiddo!

Just need to put her there. designate a spot. A stair or a rug or a certain chair are all things that work well. you tell her that this is where she will sit for 2mins( 1min per year of age) when she is naughty or cant listen. First few times she will try to get up and run or hide or kick and scream. you just very calmly walk over pick her up put her back in naughty spot and start her time over. her time doesnt start until she is sitting nicely and quietly. works great for us.

Try to get her to tell you that she is mad as well. This helps them learn to express their feelings and you can go from there. My daughter throws tantrums but it is usually in regardds to being told no about something. If she is in a safe place, I ignore her for about 2-3 minutes and if she hasn't stopped by then , I get to her level and tell her that her tantrum is all done and we need to do something else.

Quoting Melissa:

the naughty spot. its the only thing i found that works. my son is 3 and a half now and it still works.

How can I introduce this "naughty spot" or "time out" spot to my daughter? She is now 21 months old.
