My son has been for a long time obssessed with eating all things paper. Books, toilet paper, tissue paper, wrapping paper, anything he can get his hands on. He is very fussed about trying new food, and does the smell and put on lip test but when he see's anything paper straight in the mouth. Im not overly worried about it 9/10 I catch him and get it out of his mouth, just wondering if any other kids do this or similar?

Both my kids went through a phase of chewing on books and boxes and loo roll tubes.....we have lots of books with half a cover on now! Guess he'll grow out of it, eventually. :)

I used to eat paper when I was a kid. I also used to eat clovers, rose petals and other stuff. I never ate tons of it and I think I just ate it out of curiosity and boredom. I think I mostly stopped by late grade school, but I think some of the corners of papers were torn off through Jr. high school.

Later in life, I found out that roses were toxic -- good thing I didn't eat the leaves!

I think he'll grow out of it, at least I did. I do chew gum a lot and will definitely chew ice, given the chance.

I'd like to say it's not that strange b/c that would make ME less strange, but I'm not for certain;-)
