My son always puts his hands in his mouth, especially when he is going to bed or is tired. I take every precaution I have like hand sanitizer or washing his hand, but he always tends to get sick. Colds, flu, fevers Poor guy it never ends for him.

My daughter was a thumb sucker too, and her father did it until he was too old, so I was adament about her not having a problem! Also, it might be because he's teething depending on his age??

Anyways, I learned that my daughter hates the smell of mint, by kissing her after brushing my teeth and such. She'd always make this face "eww gross mom!". This was around 5 months when she began sucking her thumb, knuckles, side, everything NON STOP. Lots of the older women in my family recommended dipping her hand in hot sauce, etc..but I couldn't do that. Instead, I put just the tiniest dab of my tooth paste on her hand. After that first time, she never had a problem again. Of course, there's the occasional "lick your finger clean" type thing, but not sucking to sleep or anything. Good luck!! I carry a travel size Lysol in my bag and spray everything she cart, sippy cup if it hits the ground (not the mouth, but the rest that her hands touch), etc.

It seems mean but try vinegar or mild chilli. put it on his fingers, he wont do it again!!! Not nice now but better than having him in the detist seat needing braces!!!
