My Son the Picky Eater

I am the mother of a beautiful 21 month old who is dealing with a very frustrating dilemma. You see, my little Noah will not eat anything unless he smells it first. It's kinda cute but very annoying. It is impossble to take him out to resaurant to eat because we never know what he will be willing to try. At home he usually sticks to the same ole'menu....... corn dogs, spaghetti, chicken nuggets and steamed vegitable. You heard right. He LOVES eating his vegetables.

My son is in the 80th percentile in height but in the 10th percentile in weight. Not sure if it's genetics since his dad is 6 ft and slender and I used to be very slender when I was younger. His pediatrician recommended we take him to a OT due to his aversion to meat. The OT said he was normal and would recommend we take him to a Nutritionist instead. He's scheduled to see the Nutritionist on 11/13 but I was hoping to get some recommendations and feedback from anyone who has had this problem.

I've not had this problem, but a friend of mine did with her son when he was young. All he lived on was chicken nuggets, yogurts and fries.... no meat, no veg, no fruit EVER! He's now 18 years old and is 0ver 6 feet tall....

All the things your little boy will eat are quite low in smell, have you tried him with rice, pasta, potoatoes, stewed fruit, all these are low in smell.

I'm sure the nutritionalist will have some ideas for you when you go there, but it may be you will have to wait until he has a more adventurous palate and will try things on how they taste rather than on how things smell.

All the best Jessica ;)
