My son is 2 1/2 years old and we cant get him to sit down with us to eat dinner. he want to play around and wine. We have tried putting him in time out and in his room and he still wont eat with us. He usally will eat after we are done and doing dishes what can I do?

With mine I broke out the high chair again and gave her a choice either you sit with us or you eat in the high chair. Also, an egg timer is good. We used it with our son. We gave him 20 minutes to finish his food and if he did it before the bell he was able to watch a tv show before he went to bed.

My son is the same age and is the same way. Every once in a while he will eat with us but, I have decided that it isn't worth the fight because he isn't going to do it no matter what. I figure when he gets older he will be able to sit with us and eat. We eat dinner together every night so, he will get to a point where he wants to eat with us. My son does enjoy saying the blessing before dinner so, he shows up but, doesn't always stick around. I leave his food out for an hour or so just in case he wants to eat later he will have something.
