My sons poop is hard, normal?

My so is 13 months and I have only started to give him bits of solid food here and there and his poop is hard, is this normal?

On the way to being constipated...give 2 oz. of prune juice in a bottle or apple juice. This will help.

Hard poop can be a sign of constipation. Just be sure that you're offering foods high in fiber (fruits and veggies) Water is helpful too.

Hard poop is a sign of consipation, which would be normal if he isn't used to solids yet. You can try to offer him some more fruit or if you are comfortable with it, some diluted juice (100% Apple juice is best IMO). Also, it depends on what you mean by "hard"....if it is small and hard, that is consitipation and isn't too big a concern unless it last several days or is causing him discomfort. If you mean they are large, and firm, then that is his system handling the solids normally. During one week my son will have loose stools one day, normal stools the next and then small, hard stools another....it just depends on what he has eaten. If he still has the small, hard poops for a few days, I would speak with his doctor for recommendations. Good luck!!
