My three year old pitches a fit every time we leave someplace. Its really imbarassing because he is so loud. What can I do about it? I already give him a five minute warning and now that's not working.

I used hot sauce, mainly as a threat but you must follow through. You can refer to my comments on the 2 year old hitting to see more. Sorry if I am repetitive. It wasn't fun, but it was effective.

Hi, Jenny has some good ideas - might try those with my son who is also acting like yours at the moment. He lays down on the floor and won't get up and screams etc. Eventually I just grab him and walk out but it gets to the stage when you dread taking them to fun places because you know how awful it's going to be leaving!

Not sure when you posted this question, but I will reply anyways......First off, don't get flustered when it happens, children will sence it and try to push your buttons more. Remember that every person who has ever had a child knows what your going through and watches you thinking to themselves " I remember when..or I am glad thats not me right now..:)" They aren't judging you, so don't be embaraced. I kow when my son did it, I tried to make leaving more fun...By saying things like...."we are off to our next adventure...."make leaving something fun and enjoyable. Pretending that the car is a spaceship and my son was the driver (he got to push the buttons and count down and say blast-off etc.) have fun with it, kids are easily amused and they like to have fun. Why not save your self the stress and promote creativity and imagination at the same time. Just a thought, something that worked for me. Good luck. :)
