My daughter will be two in December. She still gets her milk (soy) from her bottle at meal times but uses a sippy cup or cup with a straw for her water and juice. She is such a routine child that I am cautious to stop cold turkey. I tried to gradually do it but it didnt work so well... she stopped drinking all together. Any ideas on how to get a stubborn two year old off the bottle and full on sippy cups without another stand off that could harm her?

Around 10 months. I brought some sippy cups with the soft nipple and started amking milk in there. Then around 12 months I would put 1% or 2% in it and gradually went to the hard tops and the ones with the straws. My son never cried and transitioned perfectly that way.

Hi there,
It's hard this one!! I made my son go cold turkey when it came to getting rid of the night & morning milk, but he was already 2. I let him choose a new milk cup and he just took to it luckily. Have you tried giving her just a normal cup with no lid on it for her milk? Just put a small drop of milk in it so she doesn't spill it, the novelty factor might make her enjoy it?
I think gradually weaning a 2 year old off a bottle is difficult as it confuses them as to weather they are allowed to have it or not! You just have to choose a day throw them away and go with a new drinking cup.... I wouldn't worry about her not drinking ever again, she will get thirsty eventually, it's human nature to want to drink as well as eat, you need to give her time, if it doesn't work this week, wait a while and try again. The older they get the more difficult it is to remove familiar items such as bottles, so better now than when she is 5.
Good luck
