Moving straight to the toilet is a little too big a step for most children, check out my potty training tips at the top of the toddler page!

don't push it so muc hand take a deep breath. My girl's doctor told me with my oldest not to push it. encourage but don't push when you go to the bathroom take him too. praise yourself for going potty and then ask if he want's to try. If you are having him on the big potty that just might be a little much and he might need a little time. (those things are scary) If you have the potty chair ask him where you go to the bathroom at, or maybe just try him on the big potty. I hear ya on buying pull-ups. My daughter was potty trained for about 9 months then after we moved she had a set back and it got real bad, so no more pull-up's I just put big girl undies on her and she got tired of having to change them

I started training all mine at 2 and two of them didnt actually become trained until daughter didnt want anything to do with it until I let her pick out some princess panties thats her thing..and my son well that was harder, and really one day i had taken him and sat him on the pot and he told me he wanted down and i told him if he got down he better not pee pee in his underwear and we didnt even make it out of the bathroom and out of frustration I spanked him and he never wet again! I really think that there isnt a lot you can do until they are ready b/c when they were it was all of a sudden...only thing to to is keep encouraging and taking them to the bathroom..if they do go in pot, make it a big deal and reward nicely so he'll want to do it again. diapers are expensive and so i would let them wear underwear at home b/c you can wash them. just have patients, it'll happen before you know it!
