Nail biting.

HELP! My almost 4 year old bites her nails. She's never seen me doing it, as I keep mine a little long and give myself manicures. It seems to me like she tends to do it out of boredom, not under stress or anything. When I catch her, I ask her why she does it and she just shrugs. Hubby thinks scaring her half to death when he catches her doing it will work, but she just jumps and then looks at him like he's crazy. I've tried the nasty nail polish, jalapeno juice, hot sauce, etc. Nada. I've tried asking her if she would like to have a manicure and she tells me no. So...I'm at a loss. Giving her stuff to do when I catch her usually stops it, but only for a moment. Any help would be appreciated!

My daughter (turning 3 beginning of December),use to bite her nails. One day she saw me painting my nails and wanted hers painted aswell. So I said I would, but if I catch her biting her nails I'll take it of.It worked for her (I painted her nails with a clear cutex with glitter in)

Have you tried keeping her from being bored also take her to the store for nail polish and make a huge deal out of how pretty her nails look painted if that doesn't work I had a friend who's daughter bite her nails so she had her wear elbow length gloves for a week and that stopped the nail bitting
