My 2 year/2 mos year old daughter is usually a very good sleeper. A couple of weeks ago, we all got sick and I was in the hospital, which freaked her out completely. Since coming home she has been waking up constantly and wanting to get in our bed. We didn't allow it until she was running a fever of 103.8. I know she has a lot going on (oh, and I'm prego which she's not too sure about) but what's the best way to get her back in her big-girl-bed and us back to a good night's sleep. I don't like the scream it out option but it may be my only choice. HELP!

Poor little baby.....lol, She is still a little freaked out cause mummy went away. The poor little girl doesnt understand that mummy was sick. I would just try and sit in her room with her for a little while to reassure her that you arent going anywhere. It is probably a little bit scary for her when she had a fever as well cause she couldnt understand that either. She is just a little unsettled and confused, try and give her a warm lavender bath before she goes to bed as lavender is a natural soothing agent.I use Aromatherapy bubble bath - Lavender, when my children were a little unsettled or restless,it also use to settle their tummies down if they complained of a pain in the belly...I think the scream out method should be the last resort as children associate this with being naughty, she's not naughty just a little frightened and confused. Although upon other advice from different mums,if this doesnt work then there probably is a need to be a little firm with her.....

My son went through the same thing when he was sick. But we did do the "scream it out" as you call it and after a few nights he was back to normal. If you give in, it will only set an example that you will always give in, and being prego you need to watch out for the best interests of everyone

Thanks, we will keep working on it. We do talk about her sleeping in her big-girl-bed all day long. The only thing that worked last night was my husband threatened to take away all the pacis (yes, i know, i know - she just won't give them up!).

Put her in her bed every night and when she gets up, put her back. Explain to her during the day why she needs to sleep in her bed, but don't try to explain this to her when she's tired, she won't listen.
