night terrors please help

my 2yr old seems to start screaming about 2-3 hours after she goes to sleep it's happened 5 times now in the past yr and because she just turned one i didn't think much of it but she had another one last night and it was the longest one so far it lasted about 30 mins but when she starts it looks like shes awake but when see looks at me shes not really looking at me and then her eyes close but shes still going it is so hard and so scary but it's worse when i try to comfort her she seems to get worse when i try to cuddle her she will have a big fit and scream worse i dont know what to do any advise will be great anything to help her thanks

I have heard that trying to put your child to bed earlier may help. also, don't feed your child within an hour of bedtime.  Maybe these will help. definately worth a try.

thanks for your help i don't feed her before bed but i do have troubles getting her there her father is a big softy and will give into her screams whereas i won't thanks again and i will be talking to hubby about keeping her bed time without giving in

Try the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth.  It has a section on night terrors and all of his sleeping advice was really helpful to me.  It's often available at the library.
