Night training

My 3 year old son has been potty trained since his second birthday but he still needs a pull-up during sleep time. We've tried limiting liquids after dinner but he still wakes up wet in the morning. How can we get him to stay dry at night?

Hi -- my nearly 3 year old daughter had been daytime dry for several months and also still needed a pull-up at night. We also limit late afternoon/early evening drinking, but what has helped immensely for us, is we just take her to the toilet before we go to bed at night. I was nervous to do it, because I didn't want her to wake up and be alert, but she just goes right back to sleep. It's worth a try.

Hi Aristea,

My daughter is 2 and has been going good with toilet training. I find that if I can get her early in the morning just as she is stiring she will go straight away and have a dry nappy. If I let her wake up in her own time, she will generally wet her pull up. I also try to eliminate the night drinks and only offer her a little bit of drink any time after 5pm. This seems to be working for us. Some kids get into really deep sleep and dont sense they need to go. Obviously if they wake up dry we make a big deal out of it.  Just some ideas but every kid is different. I am going through the nervous stage of taking her out in public without a pull up on....wish me luck.
