My son just turned 3 and he has been waking up frequently in the middle of the night just screaming his head off! When that happens i'll usually just rock him in the rocking chair and snuggle with him until he falls asleep, but as soon as I put him back in bed he'll wake up from a deep sleep and scream again and it breaks my heart to see him so upset!! Could he be having nightmares, and if so. what could I do to reassure him that he'll be ok and that he's safe??

Not much of a response but you could try taking any toys out of his room that may be kinda scary when the lights go out. Things that they are ok with during the day sometimes look scary at night. Two if he is waking up and being scared you could take an empty spray bottle fill it w/ water, sparkles, some color of dye, whatever (have him help) and tell him its monster spray. You spray it around his room at night and tell him it keeps all the monsters away. Worked great with my little sister when she was about this age.
