Today when I went to get my 21 month son out of his crib and ready for daycare, I found him in the rocking chair next to his crib. He climbed out of his crib all by himself! He was so cute just sitting there with his blankets, looking at a book. He also managed to get one of his hats and put it on for some reason. Please share how you first discovered your toddler escaped from his crib--

Yup, my expierence was about the same as Jeramie's. My daughter when she was 22months was having a hard time for whatever reason going to bed one night. I let her cry it out after I tried everything else and after a few minutes she was quiet, huge thump and then more even louder screams. She's 27months now, I've showed her alot how to climb out safely from her crib for the "just in case" moment but knock on wood she hasnt tried since. Right now I get the "Mama-up-please-mama-up-mama-please" wake up call and when I walk in she's standing at the foot of her bed with her blanket in one hand and a toy in other waiting for me to pick her up but once she's out she'll get down and walk downstairs. We do have her future bed in the process of being built right now so we can change when it's time, otherwise her crib converts too.

The First time my girl escaped she was about 1 1/2 yrs old. She was supposed to be sleeping but it was a "cry it out" night. I don't know how she did it, but I heard a THUMP from the next room and ran in there to find her lying on the carpet in shock. I guess she just flung herself out in a rage. She didn't try to climb out again until TODAY. I woke up to the sound of her bedroom door opening, and my 27mo. old girl was standing in the hallway when I went to investigate and said "Awake!" Then I said " did you climb out of bed?" she was so proud of herself. I put her back in there and made her show how she did it. Looks like I'll be changing it to the toddler bed soon!
