If my 2 year old son poo's while he's down for his nap or down for the night he likes to decorate his room with it!! I'm told this is quite common but as of yet I've found no way of stopping it. I've tried putting him back in vests during the day but he manages to get his trousers off and put his hand through the leg hole on the vest. He's back in full sleep suits at night so the poo decorations have stopped at night now. I've even tried letting him smell it and telling him its dirty (Dirty is a word he understands and usually it stops him picking sweets and rubbish off the floor) but this has not worked either. Please if anyone has any ideas I'll be eternally grateful. I know he should grow out of it but the constant washing, smell and general irritation is driving me crazy. Thank you x x x

Is he no longer in a crib? Does the "big boy" thing appeal to him? You could try keeping him in a playpen for naps/bed time and tell him that when he can keep from "decorating" he can go back to his "big boy" bed...?

He's still in his cot for naps and bedtime, I was hoping to wean him from his cot into a big boy bed after christmas, but I'm now dreading this due to his poo paintings (sorry for the bad taste but this is what we call it at home). We've decorated his room in Disney Cars so when he does decorate his cot, covers and walls his Cars duvet cover and pillow case have to be taken out to be washed, this he doesn't like one little bit so maybe in time he'll realise that he gets to keep his favourite Cars covers if he doesn't smear poo all over them. Thank you for your advise, I may consider making his move to a big boy bed sooner so that I can try your idea x x x

Can I also add that he tries to eat it too. Is this going to make him seriously ill? I'm really at the end of my tether with it all x x x
