I have a 19 month old son who I have decided Im going to introduce to the potty chair. No expectations of course, but it wont hurt to show him what it is. Ive read really good reviews on the Baby Bjorn potty chair, especially when training a little boy. Does anyone else have any good feedback on that chair or any other? Thanks!!

We never used a specific chair- we just got a toilet seat that has a kid sized seat.  I didn't want to clean and dismantle a potty seat,..so we just got on the toilet.

I have girls- so I am not sure if it makes a difference about peeing standing up or peeing sitting down,.....one of my gal friends has all boys,..and she started them peeing sitting down,...so they could master the pooping part too,..and not have to change positions.

I agree with Emily. Any potty chair will do. In fact, my firstborn didn't even like the fancy potty chair. She wanted the Dora Explorer potty seat that sits on the big toilet. She was thrilled to be a big girl! And bribery. One M&M for each successful potty visit. Or a sticker chart. Fill up the chart, get a prize. Number one rule, don't have too high expectations for any child under the age of 3. Let them go at their own pace! Best tip ever? Get a cheap-o potty to keep in the back of your car for those often necessary quick stops!

I would have to say that ANY type of potty chair will work, just so long as you are using it AS a potty chair, and you talk to them about it, while you are using your potty. Tell them what it's for. They understand much much more than you realize.

I bought a fisher price potty chair (one that sings) for my daughter at about that age for the same reason, just to let her play with it and become familiar with it. She liked to play with it but now that we are actually trying to potty train her, it isn't much help. It's more of a pain than anything. I would say it doesn't really matter what type of chair you get...it is good to have one though just for them to play with...hope this helps.
