Potty Training 101

Wendy - posted on 01/25/2009 ( 3 moms have responded )

My son is 2 1/2, and for the last couple of months we have tried to introduce him to the potty. He has sat on it once for about 10 seconds and now wants nothing to do with it. I don't want to push him into doing anything he is not ready for, but if anyone has any tips for an easier transition that worked for them, the feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My son is 3 1/2 and does not want to poo in the toilet. He will pee standing up when he wants, but he seems to be so lazy. I will try the undies and let him pick out something he likes..Thanks = )

i am in the process as well...my son did not like the small potties so we bought the small seat to go on the big potty. He also decided he wanted to be like daddy and stand up so that has helped alot! we use the sticker system which he loves! we had a hard time convincing him to wear underwear tho but yesterday i went to the store and bought plain white undies then went to the craft store and let him pick out his own iron on transfers (numbers for him because he is obsessed with counting!) and that has really seemed to do the trick! he is on day 2 with no accidents so far!! hope this helps!

HI.. i just got the book:   http://www.amazon.com/Toilet-Training-Le...     am going to try it with my son once i finished reading it...... but i have a number of friends who swear by it (2 of them pediatricians.....   takes a few hours of concentrated training, but can't argue with success...

good luck!
