My son will be 3 next month and will not use the potty, he will sit on it from time to time, but doesn't understand why he is doing it. I don't know what to do to get him to use it.

My sone will be 3 in March and he's the same as yours.  I'm just taking comfort in knowing that all kids develop at different ages and I'm not too worried about it yet.  I have a friend who's son wasn't trained until about 4 & 1/2 years old.  Everyone I know says that boys take longer.  We just talk about going potty a lot right now.  He has had a Go, Diego potty for a year now, and he'll sit on it from time to time; sometimes with and sometimes without clothes on.  Lately he says he's going potty while sitting on it fully clothed.  His diapers have been dry afterwards, but I thinkg he's starting to understand what it's for.  I also tell him whenever I have to go potty (which is frequent, since I'm due with #2 in April!) and let him fluch the toilet for me.  He seems to like this!

Just trust yourself and try not to compare your cutie to other kids.  And if you have any great breakthroughs, please let me know what to try!  I will do the same for you :)

Good luck!

Rest assured your sone will be potty trained eventually! I thought our daughter would be the only one in kindergarten still using pull ups :0) The hard part for us was that she had to be in pull ups for daycare..so the going back and forth between big girl undies and pull ups was holding her back. We switched her to big girl undies one weekend and promised her if she stayed dry an entire week we would go to a hotel and go swimming the next weekend. She never went back and had no accidents. Bribing works for some, but not for all, just stick with it and eventually it will happen!!

My son is going to be 3 in March and has been potty trained for over a year. It was not easy but what we did was give him his favorite candy. We gave him one tootsie roll for pee and then two for poop. We use a pull up while he is sleeping through the night, He has already started on his own waking up with dry diapers. We figured once he has a few in a row then we can start putting big boy underwear through the night.
