My son Patrick is turning 3 soon. He knows about teh potty and what is does and what he is suppose to do in it. But he wont. I have sat him done for nearly a hour and nothing. But soon as I put the diaper on BAM he goes... I dont understand why he wont just release and go... Any words of advice?

REWARD REWARD REWARD.....take whatever food (we used M & M's) and give him 1 or 2 for just sitting on there, then double it when he goes. Put him on for 5 min every 15 min. Unfortunately you will be home bound for a day or two but he will get it. We also made a BIG DEAL out of it (kinda like Look Who's Talking did)! You can also do the whole "shoot the cheerios" game. GOOD LUCK.

PS: "throw away" (put in garbage, but then take out when he goes to sleep) the diapers/and pull ups - use ONLY at night....underwear all day - that he picks out. Yes it will be messy, but less confusing for Patrick!

I had the same problem. I started buying a few small toys (age appropriate), sticker, etc. I used them as a rewards system.
At first I used a toy that I knew he wanted, I let him see that I had it and put it away. When he asked me about I told him that it was a present for went he used the potty. Within 24 hours he used the potty for the first time. It does work; he went from a little boy who won't use the potty to a kid who will wee in the potty. We are slowly working up to him doing a poo but he is getting there.
I had also made Zach sit on the potty for long periods of time and got nowhere, he went as soon as the nappy was put back on.

It took me a long time to get our son potty trained. He started real good at about 2 and then summer came and that was the end of it. Hes finally been fully potty trained since Sept/Oct and he turned 3 in July. The thing that made him want to go is Preschool. He couldnt go until he was fully potty trained. He will go when hes ready. Id still put him on every so often. Hell get it. We did stickers with our son. And after get got so many go a reward. Or my sister in law gave my niece a m & M every time she went. Itll get easier.
