How old where your kids when you started trying potty training and what did you do to get them to do it?

Clash of the Titains in here. Understandable about waiting until shes ready, I think we've got that down. She doesnt wet her diaper at night. Loving the reward ideas, great advice. Who knew potty training deserved a trophy, it really is amazing. Lol, can't wait.

My daughter was potty trained 1 week before she was 2 1/2; I just put her in underwear and kept the little potty in our kitchen and took her frequently and rewarded with a lot of M & Ms and jelly beans. She was trained basically in 2 days with very few accidents. I would advice AGAINST a pull up since they're basically a diaper in a different form. They need to feel the wetness in their undies to really get the hang of it. Good luck.

My daughter was 18 months when I started. She is now 3 and mostly trained. I wish I had left it later to start because sometimes it's harder to remember to take them to the potty every couple of hours than to change their nappy. Nowadays she mostly takes herself but I still have to remove her pants and pull them back up. She is having sleeping problems at night so I am not prepared to take her out of nappies at night yet although she is mostly dry in the mornings.

I tried lots of things but the thing that really got her moving was serious bribery. I started with small scale bribery (smarties) and got nowhere, but when I introduced sticker charts and potty prizes it really took off.

Glad this worked for you!! Every child is different. Two is probably a little young for most and parents should be encouraged but not uptight about it, what is the big rush. It will happen when the time is right for the child. Just a parent that likes to stress the importance of letting a child grow up naturally and in their own time.

I HIGHLY recommend the 3 day potty training by Lora Jensen. I was highly sceptical before trying it but it truly worked! My daughter will be 2 in a few days and at 23 months she was completely trained both day and night. She had never been dry at night and only used the potty maybe 3 times before this. This method is common sense and if you have a full 3 days to be by your toddlers side then you should try it. A couple days before we did it we really talked up the "big girl" thing. We said, "You're going to be a big girl soon--no more diapers or pull ups" If your child is over 22 months you can do this method. They dont have to have any signs of readiness. I am sooo happy I didn't wait until she did it her self. The earlier you do it the easier before they get a lot more stubborn/ independent. What do you have to lose? I feel like an infomercial :) Just want other moms to know it really works! She goes step by step with what you need and what to do and there's internet support if you have any questions.

My daughter was almost completely potty trained by 3. She wears a diaper at night which is no big deal to me. She started showing an interest at around 2 so I bought books, videos, potty seat, etc. but she never became physically interested, just curious. Then magically when she got close to 3 she wanted to wear panties. Sure we have had some accidents and you have to be ready to run to the potty at a moments notice (start bringing a change of clothes) but she got the hang of it pretty quickly.
Yes, I think buying all the stuff early helped but did not speed the process.
I Cringe when people stress on potty training too early and forcing their children into something they as individuals are not ready for. Please for the sake of your child relax parents and it will happen!

I havent actually trained my daughter yet. Shes two, she reconizes the feeling before poo but to catch her before shes peed is tough. I have gotten her comfortable sitting on the potty. The next step to my journey is sitting her on it, nakey..every 15 mins out of the day to maybe catch one tinkle. Hope this works, and when she finally does, were gonna party like its 1999. lol
