My little boy turned 4 in January and has only just got over this problem. I made a reward chart and with his favourite character on and every time he did a poop I gave him a star when he got 10 stars he got a present, also he was a bit constipated and it hurt him to poop so he held it in and the more he did this the more it hurt so it became a visious circle. I took him to the doctor in the end and he prescribed Movicol for him and this made it easier for him to pass his stools. Also I made a huge fuss about him doing a poop and he thought the praise was brilliant even now he has to show me what he has done. Just be pacient and I am sure she will get there. I thought we were a long way off but it just clicked all of a sudden.

Thank you..I will have to try that..cuz she loves books. I have even been going to the library to get her some books to read about going potty. But I guess it' not the same as having a book with stickers in it. And again thank you

A lot of kids have that issue. I have read articles where they explain that some kids feel their BM is a part of them and have trouble letting it go. My second child had that problem. She would pee in the potty, but wouldn't sit long enough to let the other come. One day I took her to the store and let her pick out a book (it was one that had stickers with it, so it really kept her interest) then told her she was only allowed to look at it when she was sitting on the potty. She really got interested in it the first time, and started going #2 before she realized what was happening. She was a little scared at first, but we made a huge deal out of it, and even sang a good-bye song as she flushed (a little silly, but it worked) The next couple times she went, sje was still a little scared, but the book really helped to keep her mind off of it.
