My 21 month old son tells me when he has to go, then when I take him to the potty he won't sit still, then a couple minutes later he's going in his diaper, if I would have got him to sit long enough he would have went in the potty, any tips?

I know what ya mean, my son always does that. However 2 days ago my son did his first pee in the potty but he was sitting there for an hour. He just wanted to sit there and when ever he got up i would say ok put your nappy on and he would sit straight back down on the potty, because his starting to dislike nappies and his 2 next month. But what i did was put his fave tv show on and let him drink juice to get fluid in him to help to pee so he knew what the potty was for and giving him a snack. Distracting him is a good way to go.

my son is 4 and hes been potty trained since he was 2 1/2 maybe i just had it easy lol but i made a potty chart n everytime he wen i gave him a prize just a peice of candy becuase i never give him candy and then we made up a potty song that we could only sing if he went on the potty or u can do what my aunt did with all her kids if they wouldnt go dont change them for a little bit they will get the point and they will go on that potty :) but i think you should just try to make it a fun game like i did sing a song after he goes tell him u will give him a specail treat but only if he uses the toilet good luck

What worked with my son is Id give him a snack while he was on the toliet. And also Id put cheerios in the toliet as a game for him to try and hit them. And after he goes I make a really big deal about it clapping and saying good job. He loves the praises and it makes him want to go to the bathroom. Also with my son he wouldnt go on the toliet till I completely took him out of diapers. Yes there are a few accidents in the begining but its worth it in the end my son was potty trained at 2 1/2

My son was the same way and could not sit long enough to go in the potty. What worked for us was reading books and I also gave him one of those cheap handheld video games to play with while he sat there. It worked really well with him.

I would sit beside my son same age and have the wish book handy, I put sticky notes on the pages of toys that he likes and would just keep flipping to all his favourite toys, always worked!

I would sing songs with my daughter. she loved monkeys jumping on the bed. other then that I started by putting her on the potty a lot and then we used the cloth training undies.

I've tried all the above, singing, reading, fav toys and my little guy likes to just sit and play on the potty, he wont go for ages...then as soon as the nappy goes on, he does his thing! He just turned 2, is it too early? He tells me when he has his nappy on that he's making a peepee or no.2, so he knows its happening.

We read a book, brush our teeth, play patty cake, sing anything to grasp his attention.

We sang the alphabet song and read him a potty training book..which had the pictures and flushing button...after a few times...he got teh gist of it... When he first started we congratulated him on the trickle..and I thinkit helped that he could see it as well.
