Putting things in mouth

Does anyone have any advice on how to stop my 18 month old son from putting anything and everything into his mouth?? I'm afraid he will get worms one day or something!

My 13 month old twins are the same way. They seem to be getting a little better with things they are familiar with. They used to eat mulch and leaves like it was cheerios when we went to the park or played outside now they just pick it up and walk around with it. If its new to them though, forget it. My daughter even ate dryer lint - gross! I've tried saying "No" and making a face and saying "yucky". Nothing seems to work for me. I think some kids are more oral than others. Good luck and at least you only have 1 to fish things out of mouth.

My now 15 month old was awful about putting everything in her mouth until my sister showed her you can knock on things. Now she just knocks and knocks. I have read that putting things in the mouth is a way of getting a lot of information about something. For some reason my daughter is happy to know everything about stuff by knocking on them. I don't know if this will work for you, but good luck.
