Does anyone have a 3 year old who still suffers from separation anxiety? I thought we had this beat, but after an overnight stay at his grandparents house it is like we are back to square one when I drop him off at preschool/daycare. I have tried reassurance and all sorts of things that we did before but nothing is working. Any ideas?

Last year when he first started at this daycare, some of his caregivers did tell me that they have seen some who cry every day, there are good days and then sometimes they just do it. All his caregivers now are telling me that he is fine within just a few minutes after I leave. He is the one I can't leave with his dad because of this. He wants me right there with him all the time. thanks for the encouragement.

My twins had separation anxiety for years. Whenever they were doing something new. I just learned to bear with it and walk away.Talking to their teachers they normally stopped crying at first in so many minutes and then it went to crying for a minute I left and now they are 6 and no problems. I went through this with swimming, gymnastics, preschool, anything. With swimming and gymnastics and such I just hid so they couldn't see me, but I could watch them. After a few weeks I was able to go sit in their classes and watch them without them crying for me and such. All I can say is that hopefully they will outgrow it and just drop them off and don't linger. If you have concerns talk to the teacher before and then when picking up ask how they did. If nothing else maybe the teachers or your pediatrician might have other ideas. Good luck!
