What kind of shoes is my son supposed to wear as he is learning to walk? Also, how do you measure the size?

I would take him to Stride Rite (or a place like Saxon Shoes that sells Stride Rite). They will properly measure your child's foot and they sell shoes with the best support for walkers. They also sell Robeez which is another popular brand that resembles walking in bare feet.

When they are learning to walk, you can get a soft soled shoe like Robeez or even other brands that Target and other stores may sell. We haven't bought any special type of shoes for our kids but Payless is great about offering to measure are childrens' feet.

I would go to a store that is specifically a shoe store. They should be able to measure his feet for a proper fitting shoe. For the best opinion on what kind, I would ask your pediatrician. I would not have him wear second-hand shoes, however.
