I'd leave her in the crib until she can climb out on her own. Once they go into a big bed getting them to stay there when it's bed time can be a nightmare. We have a crib and a toddler bed set up in our 17 month olds room. We had a 4 year old foster girl with us from the time my daughter was 3 months. When the foster daughter left we kept the toddler bed up just to see if our daughter would have interest in it. She loves to sit in it to read books, but absolutely won't sleep in it. We have another baby due in 4 weeks, so that was part of why I wanted her used to the toddler bed. But since she has no interest I'm not going to push it. She's been climbing on and off the couch since 10 months and has been doing stairs very well since about a year. But she still doesn't try to climb out of the crib. If she's still not ready to leave the crib by the time the baby is ready to be out of the bassinet, then I'll set up the pack n play for the baby. I just don't see any reason to rush it. When we put our son in a big boy bed we had a nightmare of a time trying to get him to stay in it for sleeping. He'd get out and play, even in the pitch dark.

i have a 16 month old who is just discovering he can climb. He too can now climb onto the couch and off. We were told by his grandma that the best way to know when the time is right to move them into a big bed is when their nipples reach the top of the cot. We will be looking at moving him into a big one within the next couple of months. Remember when you do make sure everything in her room is child proofed because she will no longer be contained. Good luck
