hello, my little girl is 14 months old and yesterday she was sick twice really bad, she threw up everywhere!!! poor little thing didnt understand what was happening and just cried her eyes out!!! i think she thought she had done something wrong, once she had calmed down after cuddles off she went to play again!!! i phoned the doctor straight away and she prepared me a prescription for tummy bugs!!!

she took her medecin and managed to keep down some rice and carottes!! she has been drinking lots of water o problem and diddnt wake in the night!!

so this morning she just screamed to have her milk!!! i gave her a little bit knowing that milk is not good for tummy bugs...she was fine and now is starving!!!

what do you mummies give to your babies with an upset tummy??

thankyou xxx

Thankyou for your advice its always worrying when a baby is sick and not eating :-(
well she seems to be alot better, the only thing she wanted was apples, she kept it down, so made her some more carottes and rice with some ham and everything seems to be back to normal!!! just slowly giving food back not to upset any more her tummy!!!
thank you so much xxx

When I called the health clinic they said to give them what will keep down...a big one is getting protein back into them so yogurt is a good one. If they are feeling better slowly give them little bits of things to see how they do...The BRAT diet is good but is void of nutrition so once your kid is keeping down food again they need fruits and meats too (well protein). I am sure she will be back to good in no time :)

The BRAT diet has always worked great for my kids. That is just bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. The rice and toast should be plain and white and the applesauce with no sugar. This works great for diarrhea, because it helps slow everything down, and it is all bland enough for kids that have been vomiting. Also, I give them pedialyte or gatorade to drink to help replace the electrolytes they lose when sick.

I always put some acidophilus for babies in their milk. Helps put good bacteria in there to fight the bad. I also have one of those rice gingerbread toys and warm it a bit in the microwave for them to cuddle over their tummies. And really, mommy's cuddle do a world of good. Glad she's feeling better.

my little one was sick the other day but seemed happy ;but also hungry, i gave her really watered down milk cause she's on fullcream and fruit and a quarter pc of plain toast, once she held her food down i up'd the milk content and got her back on her normal food....
