My daughter is 4 yrs old. and will NOT sleep by herself. if she falls asleep in her own room she will come to my room in the middle of the night. i walk her back to bed and sit there till she falls asleep again and not even a hr later she's right back in my room. how can i get this to stop??

she has a light in her room. i told her everynight she sleeps in her own bed without getting up in the middle of the night i'll give her a dollar and when she gets 20 dollars we'll get something new and exciting for her. so lets see how that works out. the worst thing is she knows how to get the best of me when she says " MOMMY I WANT YOU" and i fall into her spell. i guess cause i'm a single mom i give in to a lot more then i probably would if i had a partner. but thank you for the help. let see how it works out :)

It could be something totally random and simple. My cousin was afraid to sleep in her own room the nights that the dresser handles were turned upward and she thought it was making an angry face. I think she was like 2 or 3, it took a while to figure that one out.

prepare a reward chart with her, where she would mark the nights that she slept through without waking from bed. And decide on a reward together.

Ask her why she doesn't want to sleep in her room. Is it too dark? Maybe a night light would help. I think you should start with having go to sleep on her own. She old enough you shouldn't have to sit with her until she falls asleep. She's also old enough to understand when you tell her she has to stay in her bed. It may take a few nights of her being upset, but she'll learn eventually that she needs to sleep in her own bed.
