One of my twin boys WILL not sleep by himself in his own bed. He wakes up screaming until I go get him. I have tried to let him cry himself back to sleep but he will cry for an hour or longer. Sometimes he wakes up his brother. What else can I do? I hate to hear him cry and scream and he gets so worked up that he sounds like he is trying to catch his breathe. Please... any adavise??

My daughter used to wake up once every night and cry, I would go and feed her then. By her 11th months I thought it's time to break the habit. So at first when she woke up and cried, and went in gave her some water and left. The next night I went in and just cuddled her back into her blanket and left and the third night I didn't go in at all ... she cried a little bit, but soothed herself back to sleep. She woke up a few nights yet, but I never went in. It took about 1 week and half until she slept completely through the night.
My suggestion is to try it in steps ... one night he will soothe himself back to sleep.

My son had an issue with sleeping through the night also. He is a Mama's boy and never wanted to miss anything. My doctor told me at 9 months he should be able to soothe himself to sleep so I would leave him in there as long as it took for him to cry himself to sleep. Two days later he got the message and would only cry for a few minutes. He's 2 now and is in a toddler bed which is a ton easier because he can play and then just climb into bed when he's tired. Hang in there!

How old are they? They were together in the womb and now maybe he's lonely. Would it work to put them in the same crib together? I knew someone who had twins and that was what they did until the boys got too big for one crib. They liked being together since they always had been.
