Sleepy head...

My son (who is 15 months) sleeps until 10am to 12pm if I don't go in his room and wake him up. Then he gets up, eats, plays, etc and takes a nap starting at 2-4pm and wakes up after 2-3 hrs. He then eats etc again. He will then go to sleep around 7 or 8 and wake up again at 10-11 to eat his last meal. I tried letting him keep this sched (waking him up at 9pm instead and putting him to bed directly after eating his last meal (no play time unless he plays in his crib)), but he would still sleep until 10am+. This past week I've woken him up between 7:30 and 8:30am and not let him take a nap till 11, wake up at 2-3 for lunch, then stay up until dinner at 5-6. After dinner we bathe, play etc until bed at 8:30 or 9. I was hoping that by doing this he would get back on a good sched-WRONG.

This morning (I put him to bed at 9 last night) he still slept in-and I mean it's 10:57am and he literally just woke up 2 min ago. My question is: How do I get my son to wake up on his own earlier?? Or, should I just let him keep the schedule he has himself on? I need ideas!

Thanks Christy! I'll try this, hope it works...I didn't even think about talking to the Dr about it...hmmm.

Usually babies sleep a lot more when they are growing. I would try (at his age at least) a 1 1/2 hour nap in the morning, and 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon (like 10-11:30 then another at 2:30 til 4. Then put him to bed at 8. Both my kids followed this schedule and did pretty good. Sometimes when they go to bed late at night they sleep all the time during they day. When waking him make lots of noise outside his room, talk loudly, play music, etc.

Also to be on the safe side, talk to his DR about it.
