My son is 3 years and 7 months. He is only just attempting to do wee in the toilet and still not even thinking about poopy. He point blank refuses - and we've tried every method i could think or read of for the last year. Had the Dr. elimate a physical reason and spent some time with a behavioural specialist to eliminate psycological reasons. The best we've been told now is just keep trying and he will do it when he's ready. "Just keep your cool and do not ever shame your child if they fail - praise when they get it right!" is the best advice I've received!

My son is 4 and 4 months and we are just finishing up. It has taken more than a year. The best thing I can say is have him go naked, with no bottoms for a couple days. Do not feel bad, it is probably a personality thing. Your son may just not be interested in it but you should force it. Do not force it by yelling though, just do the naked method or put regular underwear on him with a diaper over it. It takes lots of time in the laundry room but PULL UPS DO NOT WORK FOR ALL KIDS. Some kids are easier to train becuase they are either interested in being grown up or they are compliant. My son is neither. Hope this helps.

My son didn't get potty trained until he was 4.   We started making him go to the bathroom after he drank.   And maybe smack his/her leg when they tinkle in their pull up/ underwear.   sometimes they just have to have a few wet underwear expierences and they hate it so much they will start going on the potty,.   Good luck

So is this potty training in general, or night time training? If your child is yet to be potty trained  by four, maybe there is another issue here (ie. bladder control etc..) and it might be wise to consult your doctor.

My daughter took a long time (probably close to 4) before she could go through the night without a pull up on. Her pull ups would weigh a ton by the time she woke up in the mornings. We just stopped giving her fluids a couple of hours before bed. It has been about a year now that she hasn't had to wear them. She gets up in the night to go to the bathroom if need be.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck.
