My three year old daughter is extremely overactive. I was diagnosed with ADHDas a child and I'm just betting that she has it, yet no doctors are able to diagnose it until she reaches kindergarten. I'm wondering if anyones had a similar problem child and may have some advice to callm my child?

I find with my daughter (who is 22 months and i'm positive she has adhd like her daddy.) That if i dont try to limit her movement things go alot smoother. I let her watch tv but only programs were she can be up and mimicking the tv. like dancing or doras good for jumping and twisting. also no juice that is not diluted to 20% juice the rest water. and sugar treats are only on the occasions when we are going to the park or gonna be doing alot of physical activity. other than that try and wear them out as much as you can. i believe that children with this cannot be completely worn out all the time but just try to get them as close as possible. Sorry i cant give you advise on how to calm them, as i havent figured out that there is a way. I've found that because of this condition time out is a cruel and unusual punishment. I do threaten it but she hardly pushes so far as to get it. when you speak of your child as a problem child they dont think they are giving problems, they just see it as look at all i can get done in aday. It's exhausting running after any toddler but an overactive one is nearly immpossible to keep up with. I feel your tiredness just hang in there and be very patient with them. good luck

watch out for colourings and additives in food and drinks aswell both along with sugar can lead to hyperactivity - try to get out and about as much as possable especially in the morning and let her run of some energy then hopefully she may be a little calmer in the afternoon.

Does she eat a lot of refined sugar? Watch a lot of television? What are her outlets for being active?
