My 3 and 1 year old sons had a 24 hour bug on Sunday. They had vomiting and diarhea and were pretty lethargic. Monday my 1 year old was fine - wanted to play, wanted to eat. My 3 year old was still nauseous and vomited a few times. Tuesday night he woke up and vomited again but had been fine during the day and was fine the rest of the night. Wednesday he was fine - eating and playing, back to his normal self. Then at dinner he vomited again! After that he was fine and slept through the night without incident. Is this normal for his age after being sick?

Vomiting and Diarrhea are never normal at this age. My daughter doctor told me to give my daughter yogurt, starched foods and plenty of liquids. The bacteria in the yogurt will help balance the bacteria that my be causing the symptoms, the starched foods are to help to keep things down, and the liquids are to prevent dihydration. Hope this helps!

This is completely normal sometimes when we think the bug has left the system it really hasn't, the cause was probably alittle of the bug left behind and as soon as your 3 year old ate i basicaly fed the bug which in turn made the whole process start up all over again, as long as you are administering plenty of fluids to help flush it though your 3 year old will be back to normal in no time start by giving small amounts of plain foods such as dry toast or potatoes !

It sounds normal to me, too. Perhaps he overdid it when he felt better. Usually, our doc says to keep the kids on mild activity levels until they've been "better" for 24 hours. I hope your little guys feel better soon!

it is normal sometimes for these things to hang around - being passed from one sibling back to the other one a good few times before they finnally clear up. the only thing i found to help when this has happened with my children was to make the home almost sterile - plares cups toys bedding even toothbrushes all need to be thoroughly cleaned - please don't think i am critisizing you normal cleaning routine or citing this as a cause for your children being ill because children will always pick up bugs no matter how well you keep house i'm just letting you know what worked for me. hope it helps and your little ones will be better soon two of my four are just getting over a bug right now too.

Hi Maggie, My one and a half year old just had a bout of vomiting and diarreah. shes physically big for her age and almost never throws up usually. she was throwing up five times at a time and every hour or so for half a day then after that every night for three nights when her temperature went up , but also she had mucas still running down from her nose into her stomach which erritated it. i was worried and took her to the clinic but they said the diareah bug but would flush out of her system if i replaced fluids constantly. hope this is sort or the same.
