Talking issues

My now17 month old son has had an extensive vocabulary since he was 8 months old... but in the last couple months the number of words he says is basically limited to dada, dodo (dog), uh-oh, and ouch. He also rarely says momma anymore too. I try to work with him daily on other words, but even if I get a new word out of him, it doesn't stick. Is there a reason for this, is it normal, is there something that I'm not doing right? It's getting fustrating because he's super smart, he just won't talk anmore.

most children do go thorugh this stage they just need alot of ancourage ment like ask him alot of questions like what does he want to dink milk or juce and get him to say it rather than point jus little things like that and just repeate alot of things dont put urself down about it cause as i say every child goes through it
