my daughter just turned 4 and has major meltdowns!! she has always done this but is showing no signs of stopping soon. she has fits about EVERYTHING. throws herself down, slaps herself, kicks her shoes off, throws things, screams, rolls around on the ground, and spits down her chin at times. ive tried ignoring her, but it doesn't seem to help. sometimes they last 30 mins. my other daughter just turned a year old and shes starting to copy what the other is doing so i'm really starting to worry..please give advice!!!!!!

when it first starts get down to her level and let her know you don't want to see her get into trouble for bad behavior. so she needs to go to her room and calm down so you can talk about the problem.

let her have her tantrum - in her room. She can scream as much and as long as she wants. She can turn the lights on and off if that makes for a better tantrum. and when she is ready to act sweet - she can come back out and be a part of the fun!

Check out "Love and Logic" - it is where I blatently copy this routine from.
