Teeth grinding..at 20months old

My 20 month old has recently figured out how to grind his teeth. He does it more during the day, on purpose. Has anybody had to go through this? Any suggestions on getting him to stop?

Yes, when my son had 2 teeth on the bottom, and 2 on the top, he figured out how to grind them! It drove me crazy. Now he has a mouthful and he still does it occasionally. I'll usually try to stick my finger or something in his mouth so his teeth won't be in contact with each other. Also, if he gets a reaction from you, he'll keep doing it. So don't react to it. Try distracting them by bringing his attention to something else. Good luck!

My daughter used to grind her teeth. She eventually grew out of it. Do not bring attention to the grinding because then it becomes "fun" for them and they will do it to get your attention. Instead try a distraction when your child starts to grind with a snack of cherios or a sining game, or say lets do a coloring page. When you hear the teeth quickly distract by talking to then or with an activity. I hope it works for you...

Some say teeth grinding can be due to stress, but IDK for sure, so try to do something fun and relaxing.

Good Luck
