My 2 1/2 yr. old son doesnt like to go to his bed, he loves to fall asleep in the living room and be carried to bed, I allow him to continue doing this b/c i dont want him to lay in bed and cry and be scared, but i want his routine to change any suggestions?

Take him shopping for a special night light and bedtime stuffed animal (if he doesn't already have them). Tell him that he is a big boy and needs to sleep in his bedroom. He probably needs your company to fall asleep so sit next to him and rub his back or maybe sit next to the bed in a chair. Gradually decrease the amount of time you stay in there. If he tries to get out, keep putting him back in the bed and tell him no this is where we sleep now. It's okay if they cry for a little while. It's because they are feeling a little separation anxiety being alone in the room and that's normal.

Do you have a night light in his room? What is it about the living room that he likes to fall asleep better there? A blanket or pillow? The sooner you get him to fall asleep in his own bed the better. You don't want him to be 10 yrs old and you still have to carry him to bed.
