My son, 2, is always wanting in the fridge too. I put a latch on the fridge and ended up having to put packing tape on the end of it because my son tried to pull it off. now he pretty much leaves it alone cause he knows he can't get in it.

Have fun with this! I cleared a shelf on the door and told him he could only take whatever is in that shelf out. I keep "clean" snacks in their, for example, filled sippy cups and cut up apples. This way he can be independant. However, he grounded from his free roam of the fridge if he gets into anything else. We have also tried an eye and hook lock on the kitchen door, up really high so he can't reach it.

Ahhh, independance. We have a latch on our fridge and I catch our 2 1/2 yr son trying to slide it out as he sees us do. When it's not latched I guess we are lucky so far he goes right to the milk or decides he "needs" a condiment off the door! I am not sure if this is why he usually gets only what he is supposed to, but often (because he wants to do everything himself) while supervising, we ask him to get out the milk, etc... so he feels like he is helping us. There was one time this summer I was putting our daughter down for a nap and when I got to the kitchen our son was at the table eating a yogurt with a neatly placed bib around his neck!
