My son is 2 and has always put his thumb in his mouth, he doesn't suck it, he just has it sitting in there. We've tried different deterants (bad tasting remedies) to put on his thumb, we've tried putting first aid tape over his thumb, and now have reverted to putting a sock on his hand/arm. He is now putting his fingers from his alternate hand in his mouth. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

My 3 yr old has put his index finger in his mouth since he found his hand, with NO sign of letting it up! My dentist doesn't like it, says its giving him an overbite and he'll need braces... I've heard they drop it by the time they go into school, so IDK about the sooner rather then later part? Or atleast not in my case :(
