Hello,

I am looking for any tips or even a good book to help me deal with the constantly lies that my four yr old stepson tells. I had tried time out and it has no effect. We've ( his father & I) have tried timeout, taking away toys, Tv time. Nothing we do has any effect. Coby who will be 4 in March live with his mother part time and his father and I part time. I know and understand that he lives in two different house hold with two different set of rules. I know he is testing his boundries to see what he can get away with but God it taking alot out of his father and I. I also understand that this is most likely normal but if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thank you

We do several things. We use baking soda, the bible, and mistrust. mistrust in our home is when one of the kids tells a lie then for 2-3 hours afterwards we don't believe anything they say unless they have someone there to back them up. If they say the sky is blue we literally go outside and look. Every time we "verify" what they have said we explain that we would love to be able to trust them but they lied and we don't trust people who lie.

hope this helps, good luck and god bless

They just do. Did you pee yourself? No, I sweated. I would love the answer to this too. So far, all we do is change up the consequence for lying. Either all toys on her bed gone, no tv, etc. We also try to let her know why lying is bad. Because if you don't tell the truth, one day you will tell the truth and no one will believe her. We still get some lies. They are usually trying to avoid getting into trouble. I try and explain that she'd get in LESS trouble if she just told the truth. I'll be watching answers on here too!
