My son will be 2 in January. He is extremely smart. He already knows all of his ABCs, can recognize letters, animals, knows several nursery rhymes. He's also big for his age (currently years a 4t but he's tall and solid weight like a football player). He was trying to climb out of the crib so we purchased a Toy Story toddler bed and bed set, redecorated his room, got all new toy box and stuff. At first he did VERY good getting into bed and going to sleep. That last about a month. But the last few weeks, it has been a struggle to get him to stay in bed. We started the Ferber method last Spring in his crib and he did good. SO we tried to do the same when we got the toddler bed. But now, it's like I have to rock him to sleep and then carry him to his toddler bed when he's asleep. And every night at 3:30 am, he comes and gets in bed with us. We've tried a night light, dimming the lights, soft lullaby cd, everything. I'm about at my wits end! I shouldn't be rocking a 2 year old to sleep every night! I'm in my last semester in college and do my homework after he goes to sleep. But hi new issue with going to sleep in his toddler bed is hindering my homework. Before this issue, I wouldput him to bed and stay up until midnight or 1am finishing assignments and have to be up at 7am for work. But now he won't sleep until 11 and by then I'm too exhausted from fighting him to go to sleep. I really don't want to put him back in his crib. There is just not any room left. Any suggestions, advice, anything would be so incredibly helpful.

I'm not sure what the Ferber method is but I have gone through the same thing. I had to start by putting my todler in the big kid bed and at first, sitting beside the bed. On the next day repeat but move a little closer to the door. Every night repeat until you are at the door. Pretty soon in no time, they will just go to bed on their own. Also may try a sticker chart , maybe BIG stickers for all night sleeps in bed and little stickers for going to sleep in bed like a big kid but waking up in mommys bed. They will want more big stickers or make them shiny!
