Oh I forgot to add too that when they were doing the biting in particular if they did it again right after being explained they were given time outs. Their cribs worked great for this. They had to sit in there for about a minute, maybe two if they kicked up a real big fuss. When we went to get them they were explained to again the why's.
Kids are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for I find. It just takes repetition when their younger to correct the bad behavior so they remember.

It's a phase and the more attention drawn to it the longer it will take to out grow. In regards to the biting though, don't ignore that one. My two middle children (one still a toddler) was bad for it around that age too. We explained to them that it was not nice to hurt people that way. After all they knew not to hit and biting wasn't any better. They needed a couple reminders but after that all was fine. The head butting thing ignore it as much as possible (especially when she's doing it to the walls and things) unless she does it to someone then again explain why it's not appropriate. It'll take patience and a lot of self control but ignoring it as much as possible and not getting upset or mad at them when they do do it is the best way to out grow it faster... well for my kids it was anyway. Our two middle ones are now 4 1/2 and 22 months and neither do this anymore. Though they will run head on into walls on occasion but that's more from not paying attention to what's ahead of them and looking over their shoulder at whichever sibling is chasing them at the time. lol.
