Toddler Separation!

My daughter is going to be 3 in May. I have been a stay at home mom with her since she was born but she has always stayed with relatives. Now I am working at a preschool and she gets to go with me. However she always cries and says "dont leave me" When I leave her in the classroom with the other teachers. Does anyone have advice on how to make this easier on her???? and ME!

I'm not sure if you are leaving for a few minutes or to go to a different class, but Sticking to a routine is very important. Reassuring her that you will be back. Once you decided to leave say goodbye, she might cry, but better then sneaking out( to her you would be dissappearing). You can reassure her once more, but leave. If you keep staying or just take her with you it reinforces the crying. Have a photo of yourself laminated that she can have in her cubby if you will be gone awhile. or some other comfort item from home. Just learning that you leave and come back will definitely help in the long run, but it does take awhile. ( I teach a toddler class and have 2 boys) Hang in there!
