A couple of weeks ago our little girl, who turns 2 this week was sick with a middle ear infection during the rough few nights, we succumb to letting her sleep with us for comfort......well now she's well again and will sleep in her cot until about midnight when she just wants to be in our bed we let her because she just screams if i try and put her back in her own bed and with our 2 teenage children sleeping we don't want there sleep disturbed too much as it will affect there studies. please help any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Megan, Thanks for thinking of us :) Well we are getting there, she was doing really well until she got sick AGAIN! and of course i folded and let her in our bed, i was just exhausted.....but we are getting back on track she has been in her bed now for 2 nights in a row and i actually had 6.5 hours straight sleep, the first time since she was born, pure bliss........thanks again for your concern and advice I really appreciate it. xxx

Hi Well I tried last night and she went down ok - she is still in a cot - we are moving house soon and will be putting her in her new bed then......she cried and yelled out for about 20 minutes and then just went to sleep, which was heaven until she woke at about 1am with a high temp so i neither of us slept well until i got her temp down which took a few hours but she did go back to her bed - but i will continue......obviously i won't let her cry if she's unwell but i am determined to get her to sleep in her own bed - but of course things will most likely change when we move and she's in her new princess bed....i may have to start all over again. I will let keep you updated :) thanks

Anytime, I understand how that is as well, our 2 1/2 year old use to do the same thing! Hopefully this will help I would try just putting her back in the bed for a couple of nights first and remember they say just don't even say anything to them. I know it's hard but hopefully it will work but it that doesn't then I would go to swapping the lock around. My aunt and uncle did it when their little girl was 2 she is now 3 and they said it worked miracles! But yes let me know how it goes!

Hi Megan thanks for your response....I will certainly give it a go. I sometimes think she is scared in the room she looks around with a look of fear on her face when i try and put her down, she does have a night light, but i'm wondering if its shadows off the light - I will let you know how I go. Thanks again

We dealt with the same problem the only thing was we would just put her back in her bed screaming or not and make her stay in there. When she gets up in the middle of the night just pick her up don't speak to her and put her in her bed. It will take a couple of nights but she will get the picture. And also don't lay down with her to go to sleep my daughter did this and would wake up in the middle of the night and expect us to be there and if we werent she would come to our room. But the teenagers will be fine trust me. But consistancy (spelling) is key. If this doesn't work, turn her lock around on her door and lock it. It sounds harsh but all they do is give up and lay back down in bed. Let me know if this helps!
