My daughter will be 3 in October and me and my husband are having a huge problem keeping her in her bed. she goes to bed at 8 every night, and does not fall asleep til 11. she keeps sneaking out of her room, this has been really bad the last few months. any tips would help us out, considering i am out of ideas, yikes.......

thanks so much for the advice. My little Abigail is on a very strict schedule, it does help, but not at bedtime, we just started reading to her before bed, no baths cuz she gets really rowdy from them, lol. Its nice to know that it does take a while, and it will work eventually, i thought i was just losing my mind, along with my patience, thanks again :)

I can't believe how many moms have had this problem. I just got over this with my 3 yr. old and thought my daughter was the worst! She would go to bed, sleep for about 2 hours and then get up every 2-3 hours. You are not alone. The only thing that worked for me was to stay close to her room so that I would know as soon as she got up. When she wakes up I would pick her up and place her back in bed. (No talking to her and not even looking at her). This did the trick although it got worse before it got better (It took a little over a week) she now stays in bed and will not get out until I come to get her. A bedtime routine is also very useful and bedtime rules help. (stay quiet, stay in bed, go to sleep) I also used a calender to reward good behavior. Each day she stayed in bed she earned a smiley face, if at the end of the week she had all smiley faces she could go and buy a new toy.

Well my daughter just turned 3 in June and we have been having story time at 8pm everynight and then putting her to sleep at 8:30pm. I think this helps along with a routine and schedule and not changing it very often. Also keeping it firm if she got up we would return her to bed every time she tried. she would try about 4 times at most in one night. Also a bath right before story time helps instead of too much earlier. I felt this would help relax her a little more. She does well with stucture and routine. We rarely have problems with her. Hope this helps. Good luck
