i have a friend who's three year old goes and gets his little brothers nappies to poo in. He wees in the toilet but will go and get a nappy to poo in. She too has shown him to poo in the toilet. She has even tried getting him to sit on the potty when his dad is on the toilet but still is a no go. She is worried is she pushing him or just let him go an will he learn on his own?

When my oldest son was potty training, he refused to go in the potty as well. I went and got him some "Potty" toys to use only when he was going potty. We kept them in a container that was in the bathroom and he was only to play with them when he was actually on the potty. I also got a chart and some cool stickers to put on the chart for every time he went! It made him excited and proud of himself. I think it worked pretty well and he didn't wet his bed once he got on the routine of going all the time. When he was officially potty trained, I got him some books, toys, and I let him pick out his own underwear to celebrate being a big boy!

They say that its a control issue when kids will do number one but not two. I remember in a class they said the kid was trying to be independent and make their own choices and feel that its one thing they can control. I think its great he goes and gets the diaper instead of having the "accident" in his pants, he'll figure it out. Just a phase.
